I've been off in Berlin visiting so I've only seen your note now. Great comparison I think Brad Delong did something similar re: John McCain's little number back last July - gads that seem like light years ago. Me I love the underpants gnomes, their reasoning is generally applicable to lots of "policy" measures, particularly ones involving taxes.
